Sulby Glen : A Family's Farm

Robert Anthony Kelly

2013

Abstract

A delightful story of a childhood spent growing up with horses,on a farm in the Lower North of South Australia during the war years. After an undistinguished but interesting period at a boarding school in Adelaide, the author hitch-hiked around the world for two years living on his wits, before swallowing the anchor, and settling down to earning a living on the farm. Later on, he and his new bride were involved in the large scale migration of Eastern States farmers, to the cheap new land in Western Australia. The story of how their farm was developed and "a living was wrung from the reluctant soil", is well told by an author with a wickedly dry sense of humour.
