A Message to the Transitioner Experience, Strength, and Hope from Someone Who’s Been There There was a time when I didn’t think I’d make it—not because I didn’t want to live, but because I couldn’t see a way to live as me. The world didn’t offer many places where I felt safe, and the pain I carried was too big to say out loud in most rooms. When I first came to recovery, I was exhausted. From the trauma, from the shame, from pretending. I wasn’t just fighting addiction—I was fighting to exist in a world that didn’t always believe I should.
