Industrial mechanical / electrical products, HVAC, steel products, appliances, automobiles -- Factories: 45 production facilities -- Total revenue: $25,000,000 -- 2005 revenue: $300,000,000 (proj. with investment rehabilitation) -- The Engineering Industries Sector was developed to provide for specialized mechanical & electrical engineering needs within Iraq. The sector is diverse, as it includes companies that manufacture steel, motors, heat exchangers, air conditioners, and home electronic appliances. This sector includes some of the following state owned enterprises: -- Diyalah State Company for Electrical Industries: Specializes in the production of electrical transformers, plugs, industrial gases, and electrical fans. Main product (transformers) design capacity is 6,400 MVA, 2005 projected capacity 1,600 MVA. -- Steel and Iron Company: Produces construction steel wire rods & medium section iron pipes. Production capacities 490,000 Tons/Year. Needs major rehabilitation. -- Al Sumood State Company: Specializes in the production of heavy ingots and castings, free/close forgings, overhead cranes, steel structures, lighting poles, high tension & telecommunication towers. Design capacity 100 overhead cranes, and 10,000 lighting poles.
