Excerpt: The U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce in cooperation with the Turkish American Council is pleased to announce Business Cooperation between American and Turkish Small and Medium Size Enterprises on April 5, 2004 at Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C. Turkey, with a population of 66 million, is one of the largest nations in Europe and a traditional ally of the United States. The United States is Turkey?s second largest trading partner and the bilateral trade in 2003 was $6.4 billion. There are several advantages to exporting to Turkey including an average tariff on industrial goods of 4.65% and a strategic location for regional markets.
